Hall of Fame

Among those in the Field Trial Hall of Fame we find W. R. (Dick) Brown and D. Hoyle Eaton.

D. Hoyle Eaton in a span of 45 years:

37 endurance championships featuring heats of one and one-half, two, and three hours duration.

Winner of six Purina awards, an honor given for having the top bird dog of the year in all of America in major circuit Field Trial competition.

Hoyle has won the biggest trial of them all, the National Championship, 4 times in his career.   He accomplished this feat with four different dogs:  Riggin's White Knight, Red Water Rex, Miller's White Cloud and Rex's Cherokee Jake.
His very first win came with White Knight in the Dixie Puppy Classic in 1960.
...Dave Fletcher  (From the Foreword written in the White Knight Story)

Champions

White Knight

In his life time won: The National, Free For All, The Purina Top Dog Award (2 times)and 20 other significant wins. He produced three National Championship winners and four Purina Top Dog Award winners. The truly great ones are freaks and finding one could be compared with looking for a needle in a haystick. My friend, Dick Brown, used to say "They come along one in 25 years ane I believe his theory is about right.

Red Water Rex

His record reads like this: 25 wins, 247 winners produced, with 1696 wins. Rex won nine Open All-age Championships including the National and the Purina Award twice, 2 championships and one runner-up of the Continental.

White Cloud

Cloud had 31 wins, including the National and Purina Award, sired 220 winners with 861 wins. He is in the Field Trial Hall of Fame.

Men That I Knew and Worked With

W. R. (Dick) Brown

The man who influenced my life more than anyone else. Dick had studied bird dogs and the finer points of breeding good dogs long before I knew him. He is in the Field Trial Hall of Fame.

Robert Burress

My friend and scout for many years. He became known as one of the best in the business. And he was a good dog trainer also.

Earl Rowland

A good friend and a good man. He was a man of character and honest. He loved a good bird dog.

General Walter S. McILhenny

A retired Marine General with the reputation for being the best hand to hand combat man ever. He was perhaps the greatest man that I was ever associated with. He spent a month in Canada with us for 20 years.
